Ferguson protesters, in what most would deem an uncontainable action, barged into a ceremony celebrating Dario Raschio, a 100-year-old U.S Navy Veteran.
Senator Ron Wyden, an Organ Democrat, was to present not only a flag that had been flown over the U.S. Capitol but a framed shadow box containing all of his WW II decorations. On behave of all his fellow veterans of WW II, Raschio was to accept this great honor.
Never believing or calling himself a hero, Rachio states that he was simply doing his job.
Rachio was 27 years old when he joined the Navy and took part five times piloting observation planes in the Pacific Theater. “His plane was shot down on a mission once, and he and his passenger were rescued a few hours later, just as they were beginning to believe they would die in the water,” reports Rare.
This did not detour Raschio in the least, this brush with death, and he was still able to identify and convey an ammo dump location that he had sited while flying over land. The ammo dump was then successfully destroyed.
“As Senator Wyden made his opening remarks at the Saturday town hall, protesters began chanting outside the windows, and then invaded the town hall to shout Wyden down,” according to Liberty Unyielding.
(This first video is Raschio calming the protesters, the next video is chaos.)
When the protesters, over 100 mostly black activists, came smashing in and shouting ‘Hands up’, ‘Don’t shoot’ and ‘I can’t breath,’ Roschio stepped up to the microphone and scolded the protesters saying, “Give me a chance,” Roschio said softly. “Let’s show a little respect for this occasion.”
It was not until that moment that the protesters stopped.
“He accepted the metals on behalf of those who died in WW II and ended his short speech by saying, ‘God bless America. And you people that are here for a cause, whatever it might be—show respect to Sen. Wydemn”
Roschio, you make us all proud!
The chanting started again, however, before Raschio even had the chance to sit down and went on for about 45 minutes. Sadly, the meeting had to be called to an end.
Are you proud of yourselves protesters? Are you proud that you disrupted one of our true heroes as he was so deservedly being honored? Are you proud that you taunted 100-year-old Navy Veteran Dario Raschio who did nothing to you but protect you and your rights?
