As potential 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton continues to find herself embroiled in controversy over the alleged illegal use of private emails during her tenure as Secretary of State in the Obama administration, a 2007 video has surfaced of her blasting the Bush administration’s “secret” email accounts.
Said Clinton, “Our constitution is being shredded. We know about the secret wiretaps, we know about the secret military tribunals, the secret White House email accounts.”
Democrat candidates attacking the Bush administration for a lack of transparency was a popular campaign theme in the 2008 presidential election, particularly for Clinton and soon-to-be president Barack Obama.
The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Clinton’s use of private emails and her handlers seeming unpreparedness for this controversy caught many Democrats off guard, particularly as Clinton likely prepares for a 2016 White House bid.
