White House Spokesman Josh Earnest declared the White House has no idea what Texas Governor Greg Abbott is thinking by monitoring Federal troops during Operation Jade Helm.

While he was the Attorney General, Governor Greg Abbott (Texas-R) never backed down from the White House. He is on record suing President Obama’s pen-and-phone over 27 times in the first four years President Obama took office. His last act before becoming governor is spearheading the now famous 26 States to halt amnesty that resulted in a federal judge, at least temporarily, halting amnesty by executive fiat.
A massive military drill, known as Jade Helm, coupled with mysterious Walmart closings that cost 2200 employees their jobs, has many concerned and conspiracy theories frequently popping up. With many of the drills scheduled to take place in heart of Texas, many concerned Texans petitioned the governor’s office concerned about their safety. In order to address the issue last week, Abbott ordered the Texas National Guard to monitor federal troop movements and the drills.
Abbott asked the commanding officer to provide updates directly to the governor’s office. He directly references monitoring Texas citizen’s safety, private property rights, constitutional rights, and civil liberties to ensure they are not infringed upon.
“During the training operation, it is important that Texans know their safety, constitutional rights, private property rights and civil liberties will not be infringed,” Abbott said in the letter to Betty. “By monitoring the operation on a continual basis, the state guard will facilitate communications between my office and the commanders of the operation to ensure adequate measures are in place to protect Texans.” (TheBlaze)
In response, the White House sent out Josh Earnest to address Governor Abbott. Despite citizens of many states being concerned with this massive drill, the White House declared they have “no idea what he’s (the Texas Governor) thinking.” Earnest stated he didn’t have any details on the drill, but that no one should be concerned.
“The thing that I can say without having a lot of detailed knowledge about the particular exercise is that in no way will the constitutional rights or civil liberties of any American citizen be infringed upon while this exercise is being conducted,” Earnest said. (TheBlaze)
Operation Jade Helm is a multi-state drill set to kick off in July. It is set to be led by the U.S. Special Operations Command for eight weeks. Troop movements include areas in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah and Colorado. The exercises include most of the U.S. Special Forces units to include: Army Special Forces Command, better known as Green Berets; Navy SEALs; Air Force Special Operations Command; Marine Special Operations Command; Marine Expeditionary Units; and the 82nd Airborne Division.
Many of the private communities involved have discussed the use of arm bands for participants and the prevention of the use of live rounds for safety. The U.S. government has even placed Craig’s List ads, asking for paid volunteers to take part in the drills.
If it is such a massive drill, and the general population knows at least that much detail, why wouldn’t you have an “idea” why they were concerned? That is unless you are lying about it.
Joint drills between the US Military and the civilian police force have been around since the 1950’s. Even in the 1990’s we trained with our civilian counterparts side by side in many drills and investigations. There was nothing bad or sinister about the training exercises. This one appears to be the most massive one we have seen in a time of turmoil and people are scared. You would think the White House would “understand” why and want to quiet those fears.
With Abbott being the governor of one of the states involved, I have an idea “what he’s thinking.” You would think the President of the United States, of all people, would too.
