Desert Musings:

It turns out that, SHOCK! The Obama Administration’s initial assessment of the damage done in the latest breach of data was slightly off. They originally said some four million federal employees had their information hacked. That’s not quite the case. EVERY SINGLE federal employee, whether they’re still employed by the government or not, apparently has had their personal information compromised.

Now, there are a lot of things that people have accused this president of doing that they said were “treasonous”. Let’s be very clear about it…they are treasonous maybe…but it’s not treason. And let’s also be very clear that this particular incident could indeed be considered at the very least, a violation of Obama’s oath of office. You know the one that says he’s going to “protect, preserve, and defend the constitution of the United States”? Well, it turns out even that has an out.

If you remember the entire oath of office that the president has to take, it says, “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.” The out is “and will to the best of my ability…”. See, Obama can just claim incompetence, and he’s in the clear for all of his mis-givings.

But to have every single federal worker who’s ever been a federal employee stolen is just absurd. It’s beyond criminal. Yes, it’s a crime by whomever did the deed, but it’s a crime to allow it to happen. Are you telling me, that we have a group called NSA that can track every word uttered by every single person in this country. There is a room full of people somewhere in DC where people do nothing but track words people around the country are saying, and yet, we can’t figure out a way to build a hacker-proof system to protect the federal workers from losing all of their personal information?

Really makes me glad I never took that civil service exam back in college! Now, these people who may have devoted their careers to something as innocuous as picking up waste paper and litter on the grounds of some national park somewhere, have to worry that the Chinese or some other entity are going to come knocking on their door and telling them unless they give them launch codes or some other state secret, they’re credit rating is going to hell faster than Satan on the Express Metro.

The trouble is, that we DO have people who are smart enough to provide us with a hacker-proof system. We weren’t giving them the ability to do that job. We were too concerned with passing Obamacare, and trying to get out of Iraq when we should have left well enough alone.

There is one saving grace in all of this. Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, John Conyers, Bernie Sanders, Marcy Kaptur, and Barack Obama have all had their identities stolen as well. Sometimes justice can be poetic.

Carry on world…you’re dismissed!
