Cronyism has yet again shown it’s ugly head in Washington as Senators Marco Rubio and Lindsey Graham have reintroduced the Restoration of America’s Wire Act, a bill to “ban Internet poker and other forms of online gambling.”

Which is interesting, seeing as both lawmakers are running for president and have received donations from casino mogul Sheldon Adelson.

Adelson makes a lot of money from his casinos and spends it supporting politicians who will help keep him in business and carry out a neoconservative foreign policy.

Online gambling is a direct threat to Adelson’s empire, and he has been hard at work trying to snuff it out for some time now.

Now Rubio and Graham are trying to do just that. And they’re not Adelson’s only Amerigo Bonaseras.

John Kasich, Scott Walker, Chris Christie, and Jeb Bush, four other presidential hopefuls, “rushed to Las Vegas” in an attempt to garner support from Adelson at his Republican Jewish Coalition conference earlier this year.

One would think that Adelson’s beneficiaries would be more subtle in their shameless crony capitalism.

Our representatives should stand on principle and work for those they swore to represent, not just for those who can afford representation.

But no matter. We thank Graham and Rubio for showing where their loyalties lie. I’m sure Republican primary voters, furious at big government’s preferential treatment for the powerful, will thank them too.
