After Chattanooga Shootings And New Al Qaeda Threats, Navy To Arm Sailors At Reserve Centers

It was Thursday, July 16, when the gunman, 24 year-old Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez, opened fire killing 4 U.S. Marines and 1 Navy sailor and wounded 2 others in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Abdulazeez first opened fire at the military recruiting center and then moved on some 7 miles away to a U.S. Navy facility before he was killed by police. Now, Navy reserve centers throughout the U.S. will be arming its sailors, according to a statement made by officials.

Navy spokesman, Cmdr. William Marks, told Fox News that the decision was made “as a matter of prudent and necessary action toward protecting our personnel.”

“The threat posed to military forces in the United States by homegrown violent extremists has increased.”

The FBI have warned that new threats are being made against our military and their families as Al Qaeda praises the Chattanooga killer for what is considered a job well done.

Although the consent to have trained sailors to protect the facilities is now in affect, the actual date the sailors will begin has not yet been determined. For all military, their families and the grieving families of the victims, the start date can’t be soon enough.

  1. It’s about time. Who better, than a trained soldier to protect and defend those around them? We are a highly trained entity, and should be allowed to circle the wagons, and instill fear on those who would want to harm any of our brothers and sisters. Kudos to the Navy. My hope is that the other branches will follow suit. I served in order to defend, and will continue that role, even in civilian life. Hooah! Blessings.

    • First off, Thank you, sir, for your service and all your sacrifices!! God Bless you! 🙂 Secondly, I couldn’t agree more. There are simply no others more qualified to do it. Sadly, it has taken this tragedy to open up glued shut eyes. Why Clinton took the weapons from them in the first place is beyond me.

      • Clinton and the likes, are non-military, and in my humble opinion, could care less about us. I don’t know whether or not you can recall what Hillary attempted to do with respect to the Marines stationed at the White house. She approached her husband, and I believe, a General, suggesting that these Marines wear civilian clothes, instead of their uniforms. Needless to say, that was the last time she ever made such a moronic suggestion. People like them, and including the current administration, don’t really appreciate the military. Thank you for your kind words. Blessings.

      • That IS the problem. They don’t seem to care about the military at all, and it clearly shows. How is that even remotely possible I wonder? Our soldiers are the backbone of this county and without them we wouldn’t be the great nation we are and English would probably not be our spoken language… UGH! 🙂
Have a great rest of your week!! 🙂
