Study: Gun control groups should undermine our ‘gun culture’ to reduce gun ownership

There’s a dangerous scientific ‘study’ making the rounds, even some pro-gun websites have featured it, titled “Gun ownership and social gun culture.”

It’s bunkum — pure fiction.

It’s an insidious piece of work, written by four academics who used firearm policy information from the Brady Center and the CDC’s Injury Prevention and Control Center — two groups well known for their opposition to the Second Amendment.

The gist of the study appears to say that since gun control supporters’ long term goal is to reduce gun ownership, they ought to consider not only campaigning for gun control laws that make it more difficult to acquire or possess guns — background checks, gun registration, gun owners licensing, etc. — but focusing on policies thatcould undermine the social aspects of gun ownership.

To be clear, the authors say gun control groups need to undermine our “gun culture.”

The study does not describe these social aspects in much detail, but you can guarantee they mean everything from hunting, to target shooting competitions and clubs, to marksmanship training classes and gun shows.

This is not a new approach.

Since the 1980s, gun control groups have realized that once a person becomes part of the gun culture, they’re likely to become a single-issuevoter focused on protecting the right to keep and bear arms.

This is why anti-gun activist groups are now pushing the lie that — even though Americans have been buying guns in unprecedented numbers — gun ownership is declining.

They hope other people will essentially say, “Well, if no one is owning guns, I guess I don’t need to own guns either, or fret about additional restrictions.”

This new tact coincides with an admission by gun control supporters that pushing for extreme restrictions — handgun bans of the 1970s, “Assault Weapon” bans of the 1980s, “cop killer” bullet legislation of the 1990s, and more recent magazine restrictions — has failed.

Democrat Councilman SHOCKS Room With His Outburst As A Resident Pushes Back On Gun Control

A recent city council meeting in New York paved the way for residents and politicians to discuss a proposed anti-gun measure, and when a man who lived in the town pushed back against the idea, a Democrat councilman left others in the room stunned.

The June 15 meeting in Poughkeepsie, New York included debate over a controversial proposal to force gun owners in the city to lock up all of their firearms when they’re not in use, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. What should have been an open forum for residents and lawmakers to discuss their opinions on the issue, quickly went south after members from the Dutchess County chapter of the Shooter Committee on Political Education tried to offer their input on the measure, sending Democrat Councilman Joe Rich into a fury.

Apparently, Rich wasn’t a fan of the dissenting opinions, which really isn’t surprising given his political leanings. However, the manner in which he handled the situation couldn’t have been any worse.

“I know why you’re doing this, because you don’t want us to have a law…that would cause you a lot of trouble out there,” Rich said to gun rights advocates. “You don’t want them to work…that’s the truth. You’re here to make sure that these laws never get a chance to find out if they are going to work or not.”

Of course, the idea has been tried and was a failure, like most every other gun control measure, but that didn’t stop Rich from further tearing into the group, accusing them of not “loving” the city and also claiming they don’t even live within it. Does that sound familiar at all?

“There are people here that live in the 2nd Ward…,” a man said, responding to Rich’s inaccurate assertion. “You know I live in the 2nd Ward.”

Queue the liberal rage.

“Quiet! You’re not recognized!” Rich shouted. “Shut up! You’re not recognized…I’m tired of having people from the audience interrupt me! I’ve listened to all you people from 5 p.m.! Shut up!”

You people? Sounds like a stereotype to me. Anyways, the meeting was adjourned for 10 minutes, which didn’t seem to do much good. The fascist Rich refused to listen to citizens concerned over their Second Amendment rights being violated and the government overstepping its bounds by trying to inject itself into their homes, so the debate raged on.

After the meeting, when asked about the explosive outburst, Rich claimed he “didn’t mean” to lose his temper, but he felt the group was being abusive by showing up in large numbers, and get this, wearing t-shirts supporting their cause. Typical liberal, cry victim whenever they can’t control themselves.

42 people were shot this weekend in “gun free” Chicago.  Including:

CHICAGO – An 81-year-old great-grandmother was shot Friday night just minutes after viewing the body of her recently deceased daughter at a South Side funeral home, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting.

Iola Burress survived being shot four times but was due to undergo surgery Saturday, relatives said. Her 34-year-old grandson, Sylvester Burress, was also shot in the drive-by shooting in Auburn-Gresham.

“It’s very hard right now because we’re trying to bury her daughter and assist her and then this happens today during the wake,” said Yolanda McBride, Burress’s granddaughter. McBride’s mother, Laverne Burress, 60, is the daughter the 81-year-old was mourning.

Chicago Police said that Iola Burress and her grandson were standing outside in the 7800 block of South Carpenter when they were shot by someone who was in a passing white SUV.

The grandmother, who suffers from dementia, was shot in the right wrist and abdomen, while her grandson was shot shot in the hip, police said. They were both taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where their conditions were described as stable. (read more)

Military Ops On U.S. Soil Raise Martial-Law Fears

Jade Helm 15 is set to kick off in seven states this summer, sending Special Operations forces from all four main branches of the military onto civilian soil to conduct hostile take-over training – and civil-rights advocates are sounding the alarms.

This is how the military describes it:

“The nature of warfare is always changing and U.S. Army Special Operations Command’s mission is to make certain the Army’s various Special Operations Forces are trained, equipped and organized to successfully conduct worldwide special operations in support of our nation’s interests,” said command spokesman Army Lt. Col. Mark Lastoria, in a statement to the Washington Post a few weeks ago. “Training exercise Jade Helm is going to assist our Special Operations Soldiers and leadership in refining the skills needed against an ever changing foreign threat.”

 

But plenty on social media aren’t calmed by the explanation, in part remembering the recent similar operation in Broward County, Florida, that saw Blackhawk helicopters flying above community streets while soldiers loaded citizen participants into white vans for transport to internment camps. It was all a staged exercise but for those watching, the scenes that unfolded were alarming.

The looming Jade Helm exercise, set for July 15 through Sept. 15, labels Texas and Utah as hostile areas. Global Research also reported the military says New Mexico “isn’t much friendlier.” Other states participating: California, Colorado, Arizona and Nevada.

Some of the social media commentary so far: “The Pentagon’s ‘Operations Jade Helm 15′: The Floodgate towards Martial Law and World War III?”

And another: “Using Foreign Troops with Jade Helm Martial Law is TREASON.”

Yet one more poster pointed to recent reported Wal-Mart closures in Texas, California, Florida and Oklahoma with concern, saying the cited “plumbing problems” cited as the reason for the sudden shut-downs just don’t meet the smell test.

“Employees impacted by the Wal-Mart closures were given just a few hours notice about the six-month shutdown,” the blog Inquisitr wrote. “Approximately 2,200 employees will now be without a paycheck during the ‘extended repairs.’ … The abrupt Wal-Mart closures announcement has reportedly left employees confused and Americans pondering the existence of Wal-Mart underground tunnels and Operation Jade Helm conspiracy theories.”

Walter Scott “running from the auto-parts store“? “Wrestling on the ground“? Mr. Scott “being tazed during struggle“? Etc.

Of course none of that negates what is seen in the video; nor does it essentially change the absence of justification; but it does, well, broaden the picture somewhat…. Your thoughts?

UPDATE: WOAH !! Talk about broadening the picture – Video’s removed? Social Media Scrubbed? An “unknown” passenger in the vehicle of Walter Scott when it was pulled over by Officer Michael Slager?….

….and, wait for it…. all of a sudden we find out that Scott Family attorney Chris Stewart has been working with Ryan Julison?

Yes, RYAN JULISON:

[…]  Police say the driver of the Mercedes-Benz, Walter Scott, was pulled over Saturday morning for a broken tail light. At some point after the traffic stop, video taken by a bystander shows Scott running away from officer Michael Slager.

[…] As Slager was in a foot chase with Scott, another officer secured Slager’s car and spoke to the passenger in Scott’s vehicle, according to police reports. The passenger was not identified in the police reports and it’s not clear who was riding with Scott.

Scott’s family does not know who the passenger was, Ryan Julison, a spokesman for family lawyer Chris Stewart said in an email. (link)

Now we know why, how and for what purpose eye witness Feidin Santana is doing the New York media circuit. No doubt AT ALL there is far, far more to this story than has previously been CLAIMED !!

How did Orlando, Florida based Ryan Julison get connected to the family of Walter Scott in South Carolina?  How did attorney Chris Stewart get connected to Ryan Julison?

Julison is the go-to guy when the professional black grievance industry needs to fabricate a false story and sell lies to the media.   Julison is the guy who cleans up problems with a narrative, and constructs fraud.  Julison is also the handler who shapes the witnesses.

Julison is by profession, the bridge between a lie and selling that lie to the national media – it’s all he does.

It was Ryan Julison who created the new ethnicity in the Trayvon Martin shooting as “White Hispanic”.  It was Ryan Julison who sold the 72 hour story of an “unarmed child getting skittles and iced tea, shot down by a vigilante white neighborhood watch guy named George Zimmerman.

Julison is responsible for “hoodies”; for “skittles and iced-tea”, and for every catch phrase in the manufactured storyline of Trayvon Martin.  Julison is the guy who made it seem like Sybrina and Tracy Martin were a married couple mourning their lost little boy.

Ryan Julison is the “handler”, the guy who originates the lies….  he then plants them in the media storyline.

The State Is Mulling Over A Lift Of Background Checks And Permit Requirements For Gun Owners

A proposal in Ohio would allow residents there to carry handguns not only with no training, but no permits.

Fox 8 reports the bill, introduced by Republican state Rep. Ron Hood, would dismantle the state’s current concealed carry regime, which includes background checks, training and permit fees.

Supporters claim the bill would affirm constitutional rights, while opponents claim taking away background checks and training requirements would pose a public safety risk.

That goes against what states like Maryland are doing. Since October 2013, anyone purchasing a handgun (concealed or not) must have completed a firearms safety course. Federally, President Barack Obama has urged Congress to mandate universal background checks for all firearms purchases.

ISRAEL: ‘ Security Source Reveals IRAN Is Smuggling Rockets With Warheads To Hezbolla ‘

#AceNewsServices – ISRAEL:Featured Report:April.02: A senior Israeli security source revealed on Tuesday that Iran is smuggling rockets souped-up with advanced guided warheads to its terror proxy of Hezbollah in Lebanon, posing a direct threat to the Jewish state of Israel from right over its northern border.

Col. Aviram Hasson, a leader in the IDF’s top-level missile defenses, brought up the threat at the Israel Air and Missile Defense Conference held in Herzliya, an event hosted by theiHLS (Israel’s homeland security) defense website and the Israel Missile Defense Association.

The colonel said Iran is taking unguided Zilzal rockets and upgrading them into guided M-600 missiles by swapping out their warheads with more advanced components.

The Islamic regime is a “train engine that is not stopping for a moment. It is manufacturing new and advanced ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. It is turning unguided rockets that had an accuracy range of kilometers into weapons that are accurate to within meters,” he revealed.

Hasson stated that Hezbollah “is getting a lot of accurate weapons from Iran. It is in a very different place compared to the Second Lebanon War in 2006.”

The statements come the same day reports revealed the IDF had updated its worst case scenarios for a war against Lebanon for the first time since 2007. The assessment posited that Hezbollah would hit Israel with 1,000-1,500 rockets every day, and the number of Israelis killed daily will be in double or even triple digits.

As far as what Israel can do against the major threat, Hasson said the “ultimate defense is a combination of counter-attack, active defenses, and passive defense,” with the later consisting of civilians following orders to stay secure.

American backing?

Also addressing the missile threat at the conference was Riki Ellison, founder and chairman of the US Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance.

Ellison remarked that the US has a policy of always leaving a warship with an Aegis naval missile defense system in the Mediterranean to provide Israel with defense from Iranian long-range ballistic missiles capable of hitting the Jewish state from Iran.

He described how the warship “can stand off the coast and shoot long-shots coming in from Iran.”

However, Ellison noted how the US wants Israel to complete developing its missile defenses for all ranges of missiles, through such systems as Arrow 3 and David’s Sling, which would free up the Aegis ships.

If needed the US could take its defense of Israel a step further, revealed Elisson, noting that Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) batteries could be deployed to secure the Jewish state.

Even as nuclear talks reached a deadline on Tuesday that was extended by the US, Commander of Iran’s Basij (volunteer) Force, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, said “wiping Israel off the map is not up for negotiation,” illustrating the dangers posed by the state’s nuclear program coupled with its missile capabilities.

If Obama Can’t Get the Guns, He Is Focused On Banning Ammunition For Them

If President Obama can’t get the guns then he is focused on banning the ammunition for them, at least the popular ammunition used in the AR-15 and other popular rifles.

This latest ban attempt by Obama, “with or without Congress,” has conservative groups who represent gun owners, and Congress, up in arms claiming that this “ploy is a backdoor attempt to do what the administration has failed to do through legislation—ban the AR-15,” according to WND.

Apparently, Obama wants no vote by Congress and he will disregard the will of the people. It will be, should Obama get his way, through executive action that the manufacturing and importation of this ammunition will be outlawed.

As this conflict grows more intense in Congress, on both sides of the battle, a lawsuit is being threatened by the Second Amendment Foundation. The letter sent by the SAF to the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) Director, B. Todd Jones, cautioned that legal action will be taken if there are any changes in the law concerning this ammunition which is used in America’s most well-liked and used sporting rifle.

“This proposal is just an attempt to limit firearms rights because the president’s other such attempts have been blocked through constitutional checks and balances on his power…Should the BATFE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) lawlessly proceed on this path,” cautions Miko Tempski of the SAF, “SAF intends to call on those checks and balances to stop the administrations executive overreach again.”

To further illustrate there is no need for this type of ammunition ban, top police representatives stated on Tuesday that there is no history of shootings against officers by criminals where AR-15 rifles were used. This in itself should counter any argument the Obama administration has in banning the 5.56 M855 ‘lightgreen tip,’ though the battle continues.

“Any ammunition is of concern to police in the wrong hands, but this specific round has historically not posed a law enforcement problem,” stated James Pasco. Pasco is the executive director of the Washington office of the Fraternal Order of Police, which is the world’s largest police organization with over 325,000 associates.

Pasco went on to say that this round of ammo “is not typically used against law enforcement,” but that he is “not finding fault” with it being classified as ‘armor piercing’ or in banning it. He did, however, state that, “While this round will penetrate soft body armor, it has not historically posed a threat to law enforcement.”

The reasons for advising the ban, then, have no merit though White House spokesman, Josh Earnest, insists that because the ammo can pierce armor it is enough reason. “We are looking at additional ways to protect our brave men and women in law enforcement and believe that this process is valuable for that reason alone.”

I would argue that most citizens had no idea of this ammo’s capabilities until it was brought to their attention and an issue made by raising fear in citizens.

This fear raising may backfire as the Obama administration’s efforts to ban the ammunition are being challenged as “55 percent of all House members have signed a letter challenging BATFE‘s proposal,” according to Washington Examiner.

“Led by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Bob Goodlatte and the National Rifle Association, 235 members have signed the letter. The signatures came in at a record pace…just three business days.”

The Obama administration’s attempt at banning guns is no secret but this back-door attempt to ban ammunition, therefore limiting the popularity of the AR-15, not only has the Second Amendment community up in arms, it seemingly has Capital Hill all fired up as well.

[LISTEN] Audio Released PROVES Obama Is ‘Going After’ Guns

Mad World News:

Obama and his administration haven’t kept it a secret that they’d like for guns to be all out banned, despite them being explicitly protected by the Constitution. However, he’s found his fair share of loopholes and a recently released recording proves he’s actively “going after” guns in any way he can.

For those unaware, Operation Choke Point is a program spearheaded by the Department of Justice (DOJ) intended to combat fraudulent businesses or anything else they simply object to. Coincidentally (or maybe not so much) businesses pertaining to guns have been caught in the DOJ’s crosshair, making transactions extremely difficult.

In other words, if they can’t stop you from owning guns outright, they’ll make it literally impossible to buy them.

This shouldn’t come as any shock given that the DOJ, at the time of Operation Choke Point’s initiation, was run by Eric Holder, who had no problem ordering his goons to “brainwash” the public into thinking guns are bad. In other words, the Obama administration has a clear anti-gun track record, leaving no doubt that Operation Choke Point was intended to snare guns in its trap.

The Daily Caller has obtained a recording provided to them by the U.S. Consumer Coalition, which proves the Obama administration’s gun grabbing goal even more. According to The Daily Caller the audio is conversation that transpired “between Alex Bacon, president of the ETF Network payment processor, and Brennan Appel, owner of the Global Hookah Distributors tobacco-products company.”

The store owner kicks off the conversation by noting that Bank of America cut them loose after 12 years of business together. Appel’s payment processor, Bacon, explained to him all about Operation Choke Point, saying the government has taken unilateral action allowing them to make the lives of anyone they don’t like “miserable.”

Saying the government is acting “of their own free will,” Bacon went on to state, “[T]hey’re going after clinics, they’re going after collection agencies, they’re going after guns dealers, ammunition dealers, payment processors.”

It’s time for all Americans to carry if they choose to do so. 

After all, it’s tough do deal with FBI and the D.O.J. Statistics which show clearly that a well armed populace is a safer populace.

The bill will likely pass both the House of Representative and the United States Senate, only to be vetoed by his majesty , our “Boy King.”

“Gun owners would be allowed to carry concealed weapons around the country under new legislation introduced in the Senate. The Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act would allow gun owners who have a concealed carry permit in their home state to bring their firearms in any other state with concealed-carry laws.” So touts thehill.com in reporting Texas Senator John Cornyn’s bill, filed just today. Now that’s #gunsense . . .

The NRA is certainly on board.

“The current patchwork of state and local laws is confusing for even the most conscientious and well-informed concealed carry permit holders. This confusion often leads to law-abiding gun owners running afoul of the law when they exercise their right to self-protection while traveling or temporarily living away from home,” said Chris Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action.

But that popping sound you hear in the distance is coming from the tops of heads at Everytown for Gun Safety HQ.

Note, anti gun zealots like Michael Bloomberg back this group which can’t use the American flag as part of their logo.

“Federally imposed concealed carry laws interfere with states’ fundamental right to determine who is too dangerous to carry hidden, loaded guns in public,” Everytown for Gun Safety President John Feinblatt told The Hill.

Assuming it gets through the Senate and House, it’s bigger veto bait for the President than a bill that would dismantle ObamaCare. Still, it’s good to get congresscritters on record and should make for some entertaining political theater.
