Growing Global Security Threats, What’s Being Done?

To say we have global security threats might be an understatement. Just looking at a few of them should give us reason for pause and concern.

In the 29 pages of the Obama administration’s 2015 National Security Strategy report, the increase of nuclear threat or nuclear material is referred to eight times.

“…no threat poses as grave a danger to our security and well-being as the potential use of nuclear weapons and materials by irresponsible states or terrorists.” (Page 11)

President Barrack Obama’s answer to the possible nuclear threat from Iran, for example, is to turn a sworn and very old enemy of the United States into an ally in order to join with other regional allies to help with threats such as fighting the Islamic State.

But is this something viable? “The effort has no obvious precedent in U.S. history, and analogies to earlier landmark successes—arms control with the soviets and President Richard Nixon’s opening to China—don’t withstand scrutiny. And if Obama’s problematic theory of global change doesn’t bear fruit, the deal will severely imperil U.S. national security,” reports US News.

Cyber Security threats are another hot topic when it comes to Global Security. James Andrew Lewis, a programmer at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, states, “The biggest threats come from four countries: Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.”

“Russian and Chinese hackers steal billions from the U.S. every year. Iran and North Korea are risky because they have used cyber attacks for political coercion against U.S. Citizens. Any of these four could disrupt critical services or data, and while Russia and China are careful, Iran or North Korea could easily make a mistake.”

So, even if the Obama administration is successful in his nuclear deal with Iran, America still faces a very real and potentially devastating Cyber Security threat from them.

Finally, the threat of Social Unrest. Lets face it, most would agree we look more like a Police State than a democracy and with this comes civil unrest.

“With cradle-to-grave welfare protecting all citizens from any mistakes and a perpetual global war on terrorism, which a majority of Americans were convinced was absolutely necessary for our survival, our security and prosperity has been sacrificed,” reports LewRockwell.com.

The influx of immigrants to America, for example, legal or otherwise, has set many citizens at each other’s throats because of differing opinions of what that means for America, politically, economically and socially.

The constant disregard of U.S. borders have caused many American’s to be distrustful and angry with the White House administration and worry what the influx of immigrants means from a welfare and safety stance.

Sociology professor Ruben Rumbaut warns of the danger that “civil unrest in the United States will result if we ignore the developing underclass of children born to illegal immigrants,” reports PR News wire. “…illegal immigration in the United States could lead to the same type of violence that occurred in France and England.”

After 9/11 the world seems committed to perpetual war and America became conditioned to accept total surveillance. We have become used the Political Correctness we are being fed and the regulations imposed upon us by an ever growing government who tells Americans what to think, eat and say. Since the 9/11 attacks America has also seen a sharp decline in our civil liberties.

America seems to be growing ever discontent as see cries for security and safety from her government. The civil unrest that could very possibly ensue would have a direct impact of Global Security.

Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, cautioned on Tuesday that global threats are increasing and that “the world risks becoming immune and [is] doing nothing [about it],” according to Military Times.

“In my 41 years of military service, I’ve never witnessed such significant shifts in the international security environment as we are seeing all around us today,” he said. “The complex array of threats and, let’s call it geopolitical jockeying, requires all of us to contend with an unpredictable landscape.”

STATS: Mainstream Media Devotes FIVE TIMES More Time To Confederate Flag Flap Than To ISIS Threat

What’s more important, The Dukes Of Hazzard or US Citizens joining ISIS?

BY STEVE WATSON

Analysis by the Media Research Center shows that the three big US news networks devoted at least twice as much air time during their main evening shows to outrage over the Confederate Flag than they did to the news that several American citizens have recently been recruited by the Islamic State terror group.

Screen Shot 2015-07-06 at 6.00.25 PM

The stats for June show that ABC was the biggest offender, devoting FOUR TIMES more air time to some Americans taking offense to the Confederate flag, in the wake of the Charleston shooting.

In total, in the month of June, the evening news shows of ABC, CBS and NBC covered the ISIS threat for only 17 minutes, 35 seconds, while a whopping 37 minutes and 18 seconds was scheduled for the ‘racist’ flag issue.

The Media Research Center also notes that because the Confederate flag debate didn’t begin until June 19, yet ISIS recruitment has been ongoing for the whole month, the flag ‘debate’ actually received FIVE TIMES more coverage (186 seconds per day vs 35 seconds per day).

The flag issue was dragged on and on and hyped by the networks, as companies like Walmart, Amazon, Apple, EBay and Google all vowed to pull products with any links to Confederate flags, because they were deemed to be threatening and offensive.

Meanwhile, throughout June, there were at least six reported cases of American citizens joining ISIS, and several intelligence agency alerts and warnings regarding the growing influence of ISIS inside America.

It is believed that the FBI have made at least 30 arrests on US soil this year of ISIS linked or influenced individuals.

Despite the elevated threat, The Obama administration last week blocked attempts by its Middle East allies to assist Kurds fighting Islamic State jihadists in Iraq.

High level officials from Gulf and other states have charged that Obama will not listen to pleas to arm Kurds, which is ironic given that so called “moderate rebels” were openly armed in Libya and Syria, leading directly to the rise of ISIS and it’s stockpiles of weaponry.

But wait… what about how frightening and offensive THIS is:

BREAKING – Watch as Obama Declares We Can Defeat ISIS With “Better Ideas.” WOW…Really Obama?

dJuly 6, 2015

I think my friend over at Cry and Howl got this one right. If you haven’t checked out his site yet, you should!

Cry and Howl: WOW! Obama actually thinks he can out-smart ISIS. This is one sick s.o.b. ISIS is beheading by the hundreds, burning, raping, forcing children to execute hundreds of people, pillaging, moving across the Middle East and Obama thinks that “better ideas” will win the day? As long as Barack is president we won’t be at war with Islam … but Islam will always be at war with us and getting them jobs and “better ideas” ain’t gonna change their minds. Death, destruction, fear, rape, maiming, intimidation and every ungodly thing you can think of is Islam.

Yet, here’s Barack Obama, the “commander-in-chief” telling us how to defeat ISIS …

Via: Real Clear Politics

“We’ll constantly reaffirm through words and deeds that we will never be at war with Islam,” President Obama said Monday afternoon. “We are fighting terrorists who distort islam and its victims are mostly Muslims.”

“This challenge of countering violent extremism is not simply a military effort,” the president said. “Ideologies are not defeated with guns but better ideas and more attracting and more compelling vision.”

Well damn Barack, maybe you could have a sit-down with some of the ISIS folks and discuss this stuff. I’m sure they’ll see you’re so smart that they’ll give up all the crap they’ve been doing and apply for jobs. I’ll bet you can find places for them at the DHS, IRS, FDA, CIA, FBI … I’m sure they’ll be vital to the security of America.

For sure we confirm that we are not at war with Islam with deeds.

ISIS is Obama’s army and there isn’t anyway he will facilitate their demise.

Obama Blocks Plan To Fight ISIS: US Block Attempts By Arab Allies To Fly Heavy Weapons Directly To Kurds To Fight Islamic State

dJuly 2,2015

We The People:Could it be anymore clear whose side Obama and his lap dog David Cameron are on when dealing with the Islamic Terrorists of the Islamic State.

It’s one thing to have already shown their colors by not supporting the Kurds who have been our allies, while now standing in the way of support by the Saudi’s to help them.

Apparently RINO’s in the U.S. Senate have not gone along with supporting the involvement of U.S. helps as well.

Who’s side are these people on and why do we keep electing them?”

**Middle East allies accuse Barack Obama and David Cameron of failing to show strategic leadership in fight against Isil, as MPs could be given vote on whether to bomb Syria**

The United States has blocked attempts by its Middle East allies to fly heavy weapons directly to the Kurds fighting Islamic State jihadists in Iraq, The Telegraph has learned.

Some of America’s closest allies say President Barack Obama and other Western leaders, including David Cameron, are failing to show strategic leadership over the world’s gravest security crisis for decades.

They now say they are willing to “go it alone” in supplying heavy weapons to the Kurds, even if means defying the Iraqi authorities and their American backers, who demand all weapons be channeled through Baghdad.

High level officials from Gulf and other states have told this newspaper that all attempts to persuade Mr Obama of the need to arm the Kurds directly as part of more vigorous plans to take on Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) have failed. The Senate voted down one attempt by supporters of the Kurdish cause last month.

The officials say they are looking at new ways to take the fight to Isil without seeking US approval.

“If the Americans and the West are not prepared to do anything serious about defeating Isil, then we will have to find new ways of dealing with the threat,” said a senior Arab government official. “With Isil making ground all the time we simply cannot afford to wait for Washington to wake up to the enormity of the threat we face.”

The Peshmerga have been successfully fighting Isil, driving them back from the gates of Erbil and, with the support of Kurds from neighbouring Syria, re-establishing control over parts of Iraq’s north-west.

But they are doing so with a makeshift armory. Millions of pounds-worth of weapons have been bought by a number of European countries to arm the Kurds, but American commanders, who are overseeing all military operations against Isil, are blocking the arms transfers.

One of the core complaints of the Kurds is that the Iraqi army has abandoned so many weapons in the face of Isil attack, the Peshmerga are fighting modern American weaponry with out-of-date Soviet equipment.

At least one Arab state is understood to be considering arming the Peshmerga directly, despite US opposition.

The US has also infuriated its allies, particularly Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the Gulf states, by what they perceive to be a lack of clear purpose and vacillation in how they conduct the bombing campaign. Other members of the coalition say they have identified clear Isil targets but then been blocked by US veto from firing at them.

“There is simply no strategic approach,” one senior Gulf official said. “There is a lack of coordination in selecting targets, and there is no overall plan for defeating Isil.”

Obama Takes Credit For Victory Over ISIS, Kurds BLAST Him In Brutal Reponse

dJune 19, 2015

Mad World News: by Dom the Conservative

As President Obama recently admitted, he has “no complete strategy” for training Iraqis or offering any other vital plan in combating ISIS. However, his failure to come up with a course of action after nearly a year of major attacks didn’t stop the Commander-in-Chief from taking credit for a strike with which he had absolutely nothing to do.

The Washington Times reports that the White House claimed the glory Tuesday for a victory over the Islamic State in northern Syria after Kurdish Peshmerga forces defeated militants in the area.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest said the triumph by Syrian Kurds in the town of Tal Abyad “is actually a direct consequence of an earlier military operation that President Obama ordered” to break the siege of the Syrian city of Kobani last fall.

“Because of the president’s decision to order the air drop of significant resources and equipments and reinforcements, and because we were able to work with Turkey to allow for additional forces to enter that city, we saw that coalition … backed by coalition airstrikes, of course … drive [the Islamic State] out of Khobani,” he said. “And over the last several months, those forces have steadily driven east across northern Syria.”

The claim was evidently so laughable and shamelessly pathetic that the audacious comment got around to the Peshmerga, which prompted them to make a statement of their own, Fox News reports.

“What America has given to Iraq in the past, what Iraq borrowed from Russia and U.S., ISIS has,” said Peshmerga commander Kemal Kerkuki. “They are using many, many, mines, C4, TNT, snipers, mortars; they have Humvees, they have tanks, they have different kinds of weapons.”

“The weapons of [ISIS] are 10 times that of the Peshmerga,” said Maj. Gen. Sirwan Barzani, another Kurdish commander whose forces are based southwest of Erbil.

Of course, Earnest refused to answer if Obama would actually directly send the Kurds weapons, and Obama has already openly admitted that he has no immediate plans to do so.

Peshmerga forces are barely able to effectively fight ISIS, using leftover weapons of worn, old munitions from the Iran-Iraq war over 30 years ago.

Barzani added that they’ve continuously pleaded with the Obama administration, as well as other Western nations and NATO, to send them weapons to fight ISIS. Their pleas fall on deaf ears as Obama ignores the threat in favor of pushing his own agenda in the U.S., including gun control, racial inequality, and transgenderism.

Obama is nothing more than a charlatan, attempting to pad his already pitiful resume as most powerful man in the world by scalping the victory from third-world militias — and he would’ve gotten away with it if it weren’t for you meddling Kurds.

This is the last straw in an extensive line of reprehensible acts by our American president. It’s time to support a candidate who not only loves his country, but one that will take our enemies head-on instead of striving to appease them.

Islamic State Offers Millions To Those Who Pledge Allegiance

The Counter Jihad ReportCSP, by Alessandra Gennarelli

The success of the Islamic State hinges on the group’s ability to expand the amount of territory it controls as well as in the number of adherents who swear allegiance to it, which is currently estimated to be from 20,000 to 200,000 in Iraq and Syria alone. There are thought to be at least 35 official terrorist groups that have pledged allegiance or support IS including Boko Haram of Nigeria, al-Murabitoun of Mali, and Ansar Bait al-Maqdi of Egypt.

Hisham al-Hashimi told al- Monitor, “IS distributed up to $6 million a month to groups like Boko Haram and Ansar al- Sharia.”

Abu Hajjar who oversaw Islamic State finances prior to his 2014 arrest reportedly told Iraqi officials that IS exported, “$2 billion in international investments to Libya, Indonesia, Nigeria, South Africa and Yemen, money that is now being spread among external allied IS branches.”

The Islamic State is able to “move millions” through online transfer systems such as Hawala, which was the “primary method used by al Qaeda to send and receive cash.”Business Insider also reports that many branches of international banks are controlled by the Islamic State, giving the group the ability to send and receive money though EFTs. However, as a former U.S. counter- terrorism official told the L.A. Times, “You can literally drive a car with $10,000, $20,000 or a million dollars from XYZ country to Syria. Not a whole lot we can do.”

Such funding is vital to groups such as Boko Haram because the Islamic State‘s “financial support … can help guarantee their survival.” Along with money, groups that pledge allegiance to IS are reportedly given “training” and “strategic support,” further enhancing the appeal.

This strategy of expansion deepens IS roots throughout the Muslim world, making the task of defeating IS harder. Senior researcher Martin Ewi from the Institute for Security Studies in South Africa comments on the issue, “If the groups are committed, when the leadership of the current IS organization is removed, these groups can easily reorganize themselves.”

The Islamic State sees value in investing “in people, not infrastructure” because infrastructure “can be an easy target for attacks.” This further explains the action of sending money to groups in exchange for support.

How is Islamic State able to fund such large sums of money to different affiliates?

As The New York Times reports, IS funds come from four main sources: extortion and taxation in Iraq, stolen money from state owned Iraqi banks, oil, and kidnapping ransoms. Just in 2014, ISIS gained $600 million in extortion and taxes, $500 million in stolen funds from state banks, $100 million in oil, and $20 million in ransoms. And an estimated $875 million was the total amount of assets attained by IS when the group captured the city of Mosul in June of last year.

In 2014, the Islamic State seized hundreds of oil fields, and now holds 60% of all of Syria’s refineries. These refineries have been a large target for “United States- led airstrikes” since September 2014. However, as the numbers above show, oil is but a fraction of the group’s income. The Islamic State uses much of the oil in production “for its own fuel,” and was apparently already selling oil at a discounted price “among local markets” before prices fell to “about $2 million per week.” Most of IS oil is sold in the black market, and buyers may not know its origin. The issue of fallen oil prices and stolen refineries, which has cost the Syrian government $3.8 billion dollars, has Syria worried and Iraq uncertain of their abilities to fight against the Islamic State.

IS also receives donations from “sympathetic private individuals” including from areas like Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait.

The terrorist regime “keeps costs low” by stealing military equipment and infrastructure when it can, and pays low salaries, according to The New York Times.

Funding affiliated groups for their allegiance is a strategic and successful route for the terror group to take. However, it is important to remember that the offer of money from IS is not the only reason many terror groups join in this larger alliance of terrorist groups. Each group shares the same ideology and seek the same “legal, religious, and political ends.”

Islamic State’s ability to raise funds is a major challenge for those fighting against IS, and a deep analysis of IS’s finances followed by an in depth strategy on how to cut off IS funding would be a critical step towards defeating “the world’s wealthiest terrorist group.”
